Homework - 8
Video notes
In order to enforce the understanding of topics presented in class, students have to watch the videos posted on the website. As they watch the video(s) for the day, they have to complete the notes for each video and the corresponding practice (included in the notes). After completing the notes, students need to create their own examples, similar to the examples used in the videos. The created examples should include the method of solving and the solutions.
The video notes for each unit are due one day before the unit test.
All classwork not finished in class becomes homework practice and it is to be done by the next day(because the next day we will work on something else)
If you need additional information, please, contact me for clarification.
Vocabulary
The vocabulary homework is done at the end of each unit for the following unit. In the day of a unit test, students need to do the vocabulary tool (index cards, or foldable, or a booklet etc) for the following unit. Example: if the test for unit 1 was on August 7th, homework for that afternoon was to make study cards with the words for unit 2. If the unit test for Unit 2 is on August 18th, homework for that afternoon is to create the vocabulary tool for Unit 3, and so on.
Printed list of vocabulary downloaded from the website is not considered homework. Vocabulary tool must be created by students.
Vocabulary words for each unit are found on this website on the page of each respective unit.
Students are required to know the vocabulary for each unit. Vocabulary quizzes will not be scheduled and may be given at any time. They may include words from the present unit or any previous units.
Parents, please make sure your child made the vocabulary tool for each unit (for the current unit as well as the previous units).
Parents, please make sure your child took notes for each video posted for the current unit as well as the previous units. (all unit videos are linked to each unit as well as on Study time) The video notes should be written in the Math notebook.
This is the MINIMUM amount of homework required for each unit*.
ALL video notes and any other work for each unit have to be completed by the day of the unit test. No late work will be accepted after the end of a unit.
*Note:
There will be additional assignments, practice, reviews, projects etc.
Those will be handed in during Math class. Encourage your child to keep the work up to date. Falling behind will affect their performance in class. Catching up as the work piles up will be very difficult to do.
The Last Date Late Work will be accepted for any unit : the day of the unit test.
Late work for each unit will not be accepted after the day of the respective Unit test.
Unit grade recovery
Students that get under 70 on a unit test can make corrections on their grades if they improve their mastery for that unit. Students who got less then a C (under 70) can improve their grades on a test by reviewing the unit (see all unit videos again and go over the practice problems and the test corrections, work additional practice problems on the Math websites provided for study or any other Math source). Corrections of grades are done only when and if mastery was achieved. Students have to show proof of extra work that they did to be prepared for improvement in order to receive the grade recovery test! (show all the extra work that was done to improve and complete a study log signed by a parent) When the student is prepared for make up, he/she will receive another unit test (similar to the one they initially took) to show they mastered the unit. If the student gets a better score, the grade will be changed with the new grade. If they get the same score or lower, the grade stays as it was initially.
Corrections of grades for units covered before a quarter is over cannot longer be done.
